In unprecedented times, Volleyball Victoria turned to Facebook Live to help present our 2019 Annual Affiliate Awards.

Most Outstanding Teacher – Sarah Johns (Canterbury Girls Secondary College)
Sarah has made significant contribution to volleyball at Canterbury Girls Secondary College since commencing the program. Sarah has been responsible for driving player numbers and encouraging participation in state and national level events. Sarah has been instrumental in creating a pathway for girls who have elected to play volleyball. Sarah demonstrated leadership when she assisted the girls in raising funds to attend the Volleyball Nationals Schools Cup.
Most Outstanding School – Westall Secondary College
Westall Secondary College provide valuable contribution to Volleyball Victoria endorsed events including Schools Cup and Sporting Schools. They have had a high level of success through a range or competitions and events. Westall foster the ongoing participation of volleyball for students through their networks and relationship with affiliates Eastside Hawks and SERVA.
Most Outstanding Junior Program – GMVA Spikezone
GMVA offer a structured and professional environment for juniors to participate and develop their volleyball skills, that saw continued growth in 2019. GMVA has extended the usual Spikezone structure to progress to a Mini League and providing a clear pathway to State League.
Excellence in Coaching – Tanya McInerney (Ivanhoe Grammar School)
Tanya possess great skills and knowledge of the sport with over 30 years involvement of volleyball and 10 years in a coaching role. In the last 12 months Tanya has been involved in a variety of opportunities to that include; Head of Girls Volleyball at Ivanhoe Grammar, Program Coach at Sunraysia Academy of Sport Volleyball Program, State league Coach, National League Assistant Coach and Assistant Coach at the Australian Junior Women’s Development Program. Tanya has completed her National Level 3 Coaching accreditation and endeavours to complete her FIVB international accreditation later this year.
Volunteer Achievement Award – Geoff Moss (Maroondah Volleyball)
Geoff has been involved with Maroondah Volleyball since it’s founding year in 1977. He currently volunteers 3 days a week and is spread across the needs of the association including; liaising with local schools, administration, mentoring, referring as well as supports Volleyball Victoria, Volleyball Australia and National Campaigns. Through Geoff’s high expectations and accountability, he ensures that Maroondah Volleyball is a friendly and welcoming place to be.
Most Outstanding Association – Maroondah Volleyball
Maroondah Volleyball had continued growth in 2019 and provided opportunities to experience volleyball at all levels including Spikezone, Juniors, Local League, State League, Tournament, School Holiday Programs and Sporting Schools. Maroondah Volleyball is actively in the wider community and is often referenced as the model for associations.
