The seventh annual Women in Sport Breakfast was held on Friday 9 October via Zoom.
Volleyball Victoria nominated Sue Rice and Narene Ignace for a reignition award.
Sue Rice and Narene Ignace are passionate coaches and administrators who for decades have advocated opportunities for women and girls in volleyball.
Sue and Narene are partners in the South East Regional Volleyball Academy; Sue is an accomplished national coach holding numerous and diverse roles, including within school programs through to the national team. Narene has had an extensive career as a State League player and coach, in addition to coaching State Teams.
Sue has coached at Eastside Hawks Women’s Volleyball Club since 2012 and was Head Coach for five years before breaking ground to be named Head Coach of the Men’s team for 2020. During that time, her coaching skills, leadership and commitment to teamwork and the club have contributed to its considerable growth and success. Most notably the clubs most triumphant year ever in 2014 with Hawks teams featuring in four of five Women’s State League Grand Finals, securing three Gold Medals and one Silver.
Sue and Narene remain passionate, energetic role models for women in volleyball whose contributions are unsurpassed.
