2021 Four Day Schools Cup Postponed

Thank you to all schools that have been in contact with Volleyball Victoria over the past few days. This is certainly a very difficult time but it has been incredibly encouraging to receive messages of what the Volleyball Victoria Schools Cups means to the school Volleyball community.

With the announcement by the Victorian Government, that the current settings will continue until Tuesday 27 July 2021 at 11:59pm, unfortunately the 2021 Four Day Schools Cup has been postponed. Volleyball Victoria will continue discussions with stakeholders and will communicate a new date and venue once confirmed.

One initial thought is to perhaps run the 2021 Four Day Schools Cup in place of the Junior Open, which is scheduled to be held at MSAC from Sunday 28 November – Wednesday 1 December. This would allow Volleyball programs to continue working towards a full Schools Cup towards the end of the year and, hopefully, we are well past any restrictions. This is just one of many options that will be considered over the coming few weeks.

This has been a very difficult decision to make but after extensive discussions with staff and communication from various stakeholders this was the obvious and logical decision. Unfortunately, we are in no position to know what restrictions will be in effect next week but from earlier evidence there has been a slow easing post lockdowns, including venue limits, which means hosting the tournament next week is simply not viable.

As soon as we have further information we will be in direct contact with schools and as always if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact admin@volleyballvictoria.org.au
