Volleyball Victoria has returned from the Australian Youth Volleyball Championships (AYVC) held in Bendigo, VIC finishing outright third-placed (9 points) in the President’s Cup Trophy behind winners Queensland (31 points).

Victoria won 1 Gold, 1 Silver, and 4 Bronze Medals. Victoria was well-represented with 14 teams across 10 divisions – the second largest delegation of any other representative state.  The Championships were the first to run since 2019 in Canberra and we were pleased to hear at the conclusion that it will be returning to Bendigo in 2023.

Our Gold Medal was won by our U15 Girls Blue team who were dominant all week, closing out QLD 15-4 in the fifth set of the decider.  The Finals MVP was awarded to Victoria’s James Lycett in what was her first-time representing Victoria at any level.

Volleyball Victoria congratulates all athletes, coaches and officials who have represented not only Victoria but also too all other states who were in attendance.  We also acknowledge the outgoing athletes, representing Victoria for the final time at this event.

We also would like to thank Volleyball Australia for hosting the AYVC and their partners for allowing this tournament to be reignited again.

The 2022 Victorian Coach of the Year was awarded to U16 Girls Head Coach, Nic Wilcox.
