The Australian Volleyball Federation (AVF) is the national governing body recognised by the Federation Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB) which is the international governing body of volleyball to administer and control the sport of volleyball in Australia.
In turn, Volleyball Victoria Incorporated (VVI) as a Member State is an entity recognised under the AVF Constitution to administer the sport of volleyball in the State of Victoria.
The Member State agrees to assist and participate with AVF in the promotion and administration of volleyball in Australia on the understanding that, as a Member State, it must comply with certain conditions and performance criteria. AVF and the Member State have come to a mutual agreement as to how they can promote and develop the sport of volleyball in Australia and the Member States has agreed to empower the AVF in the manner identified, so that the parties can, through carrying out their mutual obligations to, meet their goal of promoting and developing the sport of volleyball in Australia.
VVI is governed by a Board of volunteer Directors who oversee the Strategic direction of the Association. The Board of Directors is elected by the affiliated membership that comprises of currently 17 Regional Incorporated Associations and 16 State League clubs. The Board in turn are responsible for the recruitment and monitoring of Senior Management who are responsible for overseeing the day to day operations of VVI.
As a member state, VVI is charged with the responsibility to provide leadership together with effective and efficient governance in order to support affiliated members, other internal and external stakeholders in increasing the participation levels, the development of athletes, coaches and referees in the sport of volleyball.
