Volleyball Victoria has returned from the Australian Junior Beach Volleyball Championships (AJBVC) held in Coolangatta, QLD.

Victoria won 1 Gold, 2 Silver, and 3 Bronze Medals finishing second overall in the Andy Burdin Shield, awarded to the best performing state/territory during the event.

Victoria sent 44 athletes across divisions U15’s, U16’s, U17’s and U18’s.  The Championships was set to encompass the ABVT and the FIVB World Tour however due to international travel bans in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the FIVB event was postponed.

In the U15 Girls, Sakura Nakadai / Gemma McNamara / Hannah Mustovic / Emily Retschko defeated Queensland in a thrilling 3-set match against Queensland to take home the Gold Medal.

The U15 Boys’ team of Angus Apps / Kurtis Lavery / Thomas O’Reilly / James Kay and Luca Smith defeated Queensland for the Bronze Medal.

The U16 Girls’ Sienna Arena / Ella Mustovic defeated fellow Victorians Caitlin O’Reilly / Luella Greer for a Bronze Medal while in the U16 Boys, Called Fowler / Ben Carroll fell short of the ultimate prize with a Silver Medal.

Our U17 Girls Evangeline La Terra / Talia Samuel faced an impressive Western Australian team in the Gold Medal match, unfortunately, losing in two sets while the U18 Boys Joey Rodda / Dallas Kuipers won a Bronze Medal over Queensland.

Victoria has once again improved its results from last year’s campaign and we look forward to continuing this trend in 2021 when we return to Coolangatta.
