Blue & White Jacket Award Dinner
Volleyball Victoria proudly hosted the 2018 Beach Blue & White Jacket Award Dinner Saturday, 2 June, to recognise the achievements of the Beach State Team. An evening of demonstrable appreciation and good humour, the event has been hosted beachside at the Novotel St Kilda for two years and is well patronised by the Victorian Beach State Team athletes, their families and friends.
The Board, represented by Elizabeth Tupper and Grant Hyde, expressed praised for the organisation of the event and note the thanks expressed, in particular for Program Coach, Nic Arena, and Pathways Coordinator, Scott Davidson.

The Board met Tuesday, 29 May and in their traditional first meeting after the Annual General Meeting, considered the composition and necessary skillsets to continue the progress currently underway against the 201-20 Strategic Plan. The Board unanimously supported the continued co-option of existing Board members: Lyndall Hunter, Grant Hyde, and Cori Wilder.
We welcome Lyndall, Grant, and Cori back onto the Board and look forward to advancing the separate key initiatives currently resting with them, including assessment of customer relationship solutions, digital revenue opportunities, and marketing and communications strategy.
Teacher of the Year
At this same meeting, the Board unanimously supported the inclusion of a ‘Teacher of the Year’ category into the annual Affiliate Awards. The inaugural Awards were presented after the AGM in April, were very well-received with award-recipients showing considerable appreciation for the recognition and reward bestowed.
The inclusion of the new category continues in another small way to recognise the contribution made to Volleyball Victoria, and the sport more generally, by the many teachers who conduct quality programs and support the key school events hosted annually.
The criteria and call for nominations for the Awards will commence in early 2019.
