• Annual General Meeting
The inaugural Affiliate Congress was conducted on Saturday, 23 March, in partnership with Victoria University. The Congress was a modest success, with up to 30 people in attendance and participant feedback very positive. The lack of broader representation from across Affiliates and State League Clubs limited the overall success.
Volleyball Victoria would like to thank all presenters, both internal and external to volleyball for their support, and especially Loretta Konjarski and her colleagues at Victoria University and we look forward to further developing and delivering this initiative in the future.
The Coach and Referee courses conducted in conjunction with the Congress were well-attended and further demonstrated the interest in ongoing education and professional development in the community.
Volleyball Victoria State League
In addition to the Congress, most of March has been dedicated to the final preparations for State League. The season launched on the last Saturday of the month and was competed across three venues to accommodate ongoing growth.
Every year greater resources are required to administer this competition and Volleyball Victoria, in partnership with highly-credentialed partners, is introducing innovations to improve the value of the participant experience.
In 2019, we have partnered with Coburg Osteopathic Clinic and Victoria University to provide supervised osteopathy and physiotherapy services. Coburg Osteopathic Clinic has introduced Volleyball Victoria to Strapit Sports and their improved product, Gripit Kinesiology Tape.
The provision of these products and services has enhanced the participant experience and enabled Volleyball Victoria to provide high quality practitioners onsite at State League.
State League – Working Group
The State League Working Group met on Saturday in conjunction with the launch of State League. The Group has commenced robust discussions regarding the guiding principles that will determine the parameters and ultimately, structure of a sustainable State League.
Further meetings will be necessary before a series of recommendations can be presented to the Board for consideration. Consultation will continue with State League Clubs as these principles are further advanced, ensuring they achieve the agreed outcomes identified by the Board and Delegates.
Annual General Meeting
Notice has been provided for the Annual General Meeting to be held at 5:00pm, Saturday 27 April at the State Volleyball Centre. The Board is continuing the process initiated by the Nominations Committee and seeking the interest of suitable candidates for the role of President.
