Tomas Santamaria awarded Medal of Order of Australia
Tomas Santamaria has been awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia for his years of service to volleyball.
Tomas is widely regarded as the godfather of volleyball in Victoria. His influence has spanned generations and he remains one of the most significant figures in the history of volleyball in Victoria and a key figure in Australia.
Volleyball Victoria welcomes Michael Haley
On behalf of the Board, I am happy to advise that Michael Haley has joined the Office as Facilities Liaison. Michael arrives with extensive experience in local government having worked in the industry for 20 years and is well-placed to lead advocacy for volleyball with government stakeholders.
Michael will be primarily responsible for delivering the outcomes of the State Facilities Strategy, working with local government, facility management, and Affiliates to improve the presence of volleyball in new and existing facilities.
We welcome Michael to the Office. Affiliates are also encouraged to contact Michael at the Office three days a week, Tuesday-Thursday, telephone 03 9794 0009.
Second Annual Affiliate Conference
Volleyball Victoria has released the schedule and opened registrations for the Second Annual Affiliate Conference to be held over the weekend of Saturday 29 February and Sunday 1 March.
Once again working closely with Victoria University, Volleyball Victoria is pleased to provide a range of workshops, training, and education sessions relevant to all Members and Affiliates. The Conference provides a forum to support affiliates in important development areas and also incorporates the annual pre-season information session for State League.
The Conference remains a substantial undertaking, acknowledging the time and effort volunteers commit to their Clubs and Associations, and is subsidised by Volleyball Victoria to ensure accessibility and affordability. We thank Victoria University for their considerable support and look forward to offering more opportunities through the University and in further supporting affiliates.
