Volleyball Victoria Referee Academy
Volleyball Victoria is proud to launch the Volleyball Victoria Referee Academy in 2025, dedicated to supporting and developing aspiring referees within our sport. This exclusive program provides a select group of officials with the opportunity to elevate their refereeing skills through mentorship, hands-on experience, and tailored educational sessions.
In 2025, the academy will be offered at no cost, ensuring referees receive high-quality development opportunities to refine their officiating expertise and progress to the next level.
Who is the Academy For?
The Referee Academy is open to:
- Level 2 State Referees who aspire to achieve Level 3 accreditation and beyond in the future.
- Recently appointed Level 3 referees who wish to continue refining their skills and expand their officiating capability.
How to Get Involved
If you are a Level 2 State or Level 3 referee looking to be involved in the academy, we ask you to submit an Expression of Interest via this button:
Your submission will be reviewed, and successful candidates will be contacted with further details.
Academy Lead
The lead of the Referee Academy will be Catriona Tweedie, International Beach Volleyball referee including two Olympic Games and current referee coach at national and Oceania level. Catriona will be supported by the Volleyball Victoria office and the Volleyball Victoria Referee Advisory Committee of which she sits on.
Our Statement
Volleyball Victoria is committed to fostering a strong community of referees by providing development opportunities and professional growth. The Referee Academy will allow us to extend beyond traditional education offerings already in place and enables endorsed and highly experienced referees to work directly with referees who are actively involved within Volleyball Victoria/Australia leagues and systems already (VVL, AVSL, AYVC etc.). There will be regular seminars both on-line and face to face aimed at improving your refereeing. Join a community of interested referees who are keen to improve their refereeing. There will also be access to experienced referees to help you reflect on your performance and make progress in your refereeing journey.
