Victoria Withdraw From AYVC

Volleyball Victoria’s ability to prepare for the Australian Youth Volleyball Championships (AYVC) has been severely compromised in recent weeks as there has been ongoing uncertainty regarding the impacts of the current COVID-19 restrictions.

Further to yesterday’s Victorian Government announcements regarding Lockdown 6.0 and the current situation impacting Metropolitan Melbourne and the ongoing restrictions in Regional Victoria regarding community sport, Volleyball Victoria has made the difficult decision to officially withdraw all teams from the 2021 AYVC.

The Volleyball Victoria Board of Directors did not make this decision lightly after extensive consultation with key stakeholders and consideration of our members’ health and safety during this difficult time. We understand that this decision will bring extreme disappointment to many State Team players, families, officials, volunteers and to our wider volleyball community.

This decision has been echoed and emulated by other member states including, but not limited to; Volleyball NSW, Volleyball WA, Volleyball SA and Volleyball QLD.

There will be many questions and queries from our State Team community that Volleyball Victoria will now need to address.  We will communicate to all stakeholders engaged with the program in the upcoming days regarding all relevant matters pertaining to our withdrawal from the AYVC, including State Team finances and uniforms.

Please continue to stay safe, follow health advice and look out for each other during this difficult time.
