Volleyball Victoria AGM

On Saturday 23rd April 2022 Volleyball Victoria (VV) held its Annual General Meeting.

Financial

The audited operating financial result for the Association for 2021 was a surplus of $154,909.

This surplus was achieved even through Volleyball Victoria continued to be impacted by COVID-19 throughout 2021. This is a pleasing result given the COVID-19 impacted 2020 netted a deficit of $135,2250 for the calendar year. It should be noted that $74,398 of membership fees and $24,000 from a Government grant received in 2020, were rolled over into 2021 at the recommendation of our Auditor.

Whilst activities were ‘normal’ for some of the year, when the impact of COVID-19 once again affected all sporting activities in Victoria, Volleyball Victoria was able to significantly cut expenses to achieve the positive budget outcome. This was achieved by reducing staff hours, paying staff through the COVID-19 Relief payment for small business and reduced costs due to the cancellation of the AVL and other events.

The Association’s balance sheet remains strong with over $473,367 cash and no debt as of 31st December 2021.

Board of Directors

In line with the Constitution, post the AGM the Board met to appoint the Office Directors positions.

After a brief discussion, the Board agreed unanimously to appoint the nominated Board members into the following positions, as Office Directors

President: Paul Freckleton
Vice Chairman: Elizabeth Tupper
Finance Director: Dr Peter Hertan

I would like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude to Ian Jenkins and Bernard McInerney who have departed the board and welcome Lauren Dinning to the Board of Directors

Affiliates Meeting

I was thrilled to be able to meet with so many affiliates together with the VV Board of Directors for 90 minutes prior to the awards dinner. It was terrific conversation to hear first-hand from affiliates and engaged conversation with VV. These meeting are critical for VV in our future planning to understand our affiliates needs as we look to strive for continued improvement within the sport.

Volleyball Victoria Staff Changes

On 22 April 2022, Katherine Walton left Volleyball Victoria after four years with the organisation. I would like to thank Katherine for her contribution to Volleyball in Victoria and wish her well in her future endeavours.

On 11 April 2022, Deion Moore (Operations Manager) commenced with VV replacing Tim Heathcote and Jake Mutton commenced on the same day, working with Katherine until her departure on April 22. Jake comes to the organisation with a Tennis background to fulfil the (Competitions and Events Coordinator) position while Deion has worked at National level with Softball Australia along with the Golf and various fitness industries.
