A reminder to everyone that the 2021 Beach Blue and White jacket dinner will be held on Saturday 21st May at the Manningham Club. I am looking forward with much anticipation meeting a number of our members on May 21st in what promises to be a fantastic evening.

Volleyball Victoria Staff Changes

Tim Heathcote our Competition and Events Coordinator finished with Volleyball Victoria on Friday 4th March 2022 after four years with our organisation. During Tim’s time with VV we have seen significant growth within our State League competition from 90 teams to 180 teams within four years. Tim was also in conjunction with Geoff Rietschel (former GM) and the VVI Board of Directors intimately involved in the recent structure changes to the State League. In addition to these achievements, Tim also oversaw the very important Event part of our organisation in a similar fashion to the state league our events calendar has grown together with participation numbers within those events. On behalf of everyone associated with Volleyball Victoria we thank Tim for his contribution to Volleyball and wish him well in his future endeavours.

With Tim’s departure, it opened an opportunity for a new staff position, and it gives me pleasure to confirm the appointment of Deion Moore to the position of Events and Competitions Coordinator (now Operations Manager) at Volleyball Victoria.

Deion has 14 years’ experience in the sports industry working at Softball Australia, several Health and Fitness Clubs and more recently working in the golf industry.

Deion brings a wealth of experience and expertise to VV as an experienced team leader, has excellent communication skills, a financial background together with strong strategic planning experience.

Deion will commence with Volleyball Victoria on Monday 11 April 2022.

We welcome Deion to the Volleyball family.

Once again, congratulations to all schools, organisers, players, coaches, and referees for making this another successful event.

A special thank you must go to Al and VIC BEACH for all their great work in running the 2022 Beach Schools Cup.

Volleyball Conference

On Sunday 6th March 2022 via Zoom Volleyball Victoria held its Annual Affiliate Development Conference. It was my first time attending the conference and in particular the Child Safety presentation by Vic Sport and Mental Health awareness presentation by SALT were simply fantastic and provided those affiliates who joined the conference with a wonderful insight to both topics and relevant to the general sport community and in particular Volleyball.

I strongly encourage all affiliates to join these conferences and update their knowledge and understanding of important and critical areas within our sport.

In our survey of those who attended we will be seeking feedback on the conference content, and feedback for Volleyball Victoria consideration for future events.

My only disappointment was that not all affiliates were online and missed these presentations and workshops, perhaps in the future these events are made compulsory?
