Volleyball Victoria Junior Open

March 2019

Volleyball Victoria is pleased to advise preliminary details regarding the end of year event to support school-aged teams unable to attend the 2019 Australian Volleyball Schools Cup (AVSC).

Initial planning is underway for the Volleyball Victoria Junior Open, a Melbourne-based event to be hosted 1-4 December, for school-aged teams.  At this time, the Open will accept entries from both schools and school-aged teams that may represent Affiliate Associations and other stakeholders.

Volleyball Victoria has received expressions of interest from stakeholders for the following divisions (these are proposed ONLY):

Girls and Boys U15, U17 & U19

• Division 1
• Division 2
• Mixed
• Beach

Girls and Boys U14, U16, & U18

• Division 1
• Division 2

More information will be available shortly as details are confirmed, including competition structure, venues, etc as stakeholder preference and delivery capacity is better understood.

The Volleyball Victoria Junior Open is being conceived in response to the demands of schools who for various reasons are unable to attend AVSC in 2019.  It is important to note that the Open is not a substitute for AVSC, which is the preeminent schools’ event in Australia.  The AVSC has been and remains the premier schools event and the only truly national volleyball event for schools in Australia.  The Open is seeking to fill the gap for school-aged participants who are seeking a major event experience to conclude their annual volleyball programs.
